Summary

C.C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon) is an office worker who loans his apartment to his philandering superiors in exchange for a serious of promotions. When head of the company, J.D. Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray) asks for the key to take his mistress there things start to heat up because unbeknownst to Baxter they are both in love with Fran (Shirley MacLaine) the elevator girl. Now Baxter must choose between losing his job as the executive or losing the girl.

Summary

Kansas farm boy Brantley (Michael J. Fox) moves to New York City with intentions on moving up the corporate ladder. Brantley gets a job in his uncle’s large corporation’s mailroom. Instead of working his way up the old fashion way he discovers an empty executive’s office and changes his name to Carlton Whitfield and begins to impress a high ranking female executive. To make matters worse his oversexed aunt gets mixed up with Brantley and now he finds himself juggling two jobs, two identities and two women.

Boss Nigger

Summary

Two black bounty hunters, Boss (Fred Williamson) and Amos (D’Uville Martin) arrive in a small town to collect a bounty on a white man. Discovering that the town has no sheriff they take the position and the white townsfolk began to protest. After they take over the role of sheriff, gangster Jed (William Smith) kidnaps a local woman and now Boss and Amos have to show the townspeople that they are not black devils and save the woman.

H.M.S. Pinafore (1982)

Summary

Ralph Rackstraw (Michael Bulman) is a common sailor on the British warship H.M.S. Pinafore, and pines for the captain's daughter, Josephine (Meryl Drower).  Their different social positions make this impossible...until the odd Sir Joseph Porter (Frankie Howerd) comes aboard with his unorthodox notions of equality.  This seems to solve the problem, except for the fact Sir Joseph came specifically to ask Josephine to marry him.

Bucktown

Summary

Duke Johnson (Fred Williamson) is a big city man visiting the small city of Bucktown for his brother's funeral.  Though he has inherited his brother's bar, legal issues keep him from selling it for at least two months.  Deciding to run it himself in the meantime, Duke quickly learns that the city has problems with corruption.  But when Duke calls in some old friends to help clean things up, he finds that he has an even bigger problem on his hands.

Uptown Saturday Night

Summary

Steve (Sidney Poitier) and Wardell (Bill Cosby) decide to go to the ritzy side of town one night and go to an illegal nightclub. While winning big money at the craps table the club is robbed and everyone there is forced to hand over their wallets and valuables. Steve discovers the next day that he had a winning lottery ticket and the two men have to find a way to recover it.

February is Blaxploitation month

Since it is black history month we are going to be focusing on the Blaxploitation genre of films. We will be reviewing other movies, too, but our focus will be blaxploiation. We may have a different theme every other month to where we focus on a particular genre or time period of movies. For those that don’t know what blaxploitation movies are or are just knowledgeable of them, I will explain.
